If you're reading this, you're wondering what happened to this year's Gathering of the Juggalos. In a nutshell, we found a location, and we were given promises and assurances that the Gathering would be allowed to occur at this new facility. Shortly after announcing the location of the Gathering, however, the local rednecks in the town got together and started player-hating on the whole event to block us from coming. We decided that, due to the uncertainty, it wouldn't be fair to the Juggalos to sell tickets at this time.
On April 11, 2006, there was a town meeting concerning whether or not the Gathering should be allowed to occur in Woodstock Township, Michigan. We were expecting a fair chance to hear the concerns of the community and to show that we would accommodate the town's requests for the Gathering. After all, this is an area that routinely brings in hundreds of thousands of people for NASCAR races at Michigan International Speedway twice a year, and we felt that a few thousand Juggalos shouldn't be a cause for concern. Instead, we found ourselves in a completely hostile environment.
From the beginning of the meeting, we were on the defensive, and the pressure never let up throughout the entire night. There was a dramatic reading of ICP's "My Axe" that had people upset about the content of a song meant to be entertaining and funny. A picture of the Rude Boy bloodied after a wrestling match was passed around the room as if it was evidence from a crime scene being presented at a trial. The entire evening continued along these lines, and when it was finally said by the Woodstock Township officials that the Gathering would never come to their town, the audience of closed-minded, country music-loving, redneck hicks rose to their feet, applauding and cheering. There's no doubt in our minds that, had we come in with a country music festival, everything would've been approved by the good ol' boys that make up the township's trustees. But a cutting-edge, rock/rap/wrestling entertainment Gathering of the Juggalos in brotherhood and sisterhood was way too much for their elementary minds to handle.
So what is Psychopathic Records doing about this? We are looking into other venues where the Gathering can be held. There are a few alternate locations that we looked into in the past that still may be viable options. We would love to find a similar location that allows for both camping and concerts and can accommodate the people who would want to attend without trouble, but if we were forced to, the Gathering could move back indoors, or be held in a different format than in years past. But we want all the Juggalos out there to know that we are doing everything we can for the Gathering to happen this year.
What does this all mean for you as far as attending this year's Gathering of the Juggalos? If we're forced to move the Gathering, as appears to be the case at this point, then we would give people a week or two after announcing the new location to sort things out, see what travel plans were like, etc., before tickets went on sale. No matter what, though, just know that we're keeping all the Juggalos in the loop on this one, and that you're finding out the latest information as quickly as we can get it to you.
So, to recap—there are issues with this year's Gathering, but we're trying to get them resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible. Once there is a resolution, you'll hear about it just as soon. We know that the Juggalos, the artists, and everyone else here at Psychopathic Records are looking forward to the Gathering. We're doing everything we can to figure things out and make this year's Gathering as fresh as humanly possible. We want to let all the Juggalos know that no matter what, no matter where it's held, no matter what the format, no matter what we have to do to make it happen, there will be a Gathering this summer. PERIOD. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please stay tuned for the latest updates.

Hey Juggalos, we just wanted to make sure y'all had the most up-to-date info on what's been happening with this year's Gathering of the Juggalos. At the moment, we've contacted six different locations spread across a few different states--including Michigan, because we're still down to bring the Gathering back home, but some locations are in other states as well. Right now, things are looking promising, and we're cautiously optimistic about figuring something concrete out by the end of this month. But as we said earlier, whether it's here in Michigan or in another state or wherever the hell it's gotta be, there will be a Gathering going down this summer! Check back here, and hopefully we'll be able to give you some kind of update on the Gathering very shortly.
